Brighten Up Dull Teeth


Your teeth become stained easily with foods and drinks. Smoking is also a big contributor to yellow, dull teeth. However, you can brighten up your smile by bringing your teeth back to their original whiteness.

Drinking coffee, tea and pop not only stains your teeth, but the acidity levels can wear down the protective enamel. Cut down on these beverages where you can. Also, when you brush your teeth in the morning, you should wait at least half an hour after consuming coffee, tea or even juice. The acidity in these types of drinks will cause the enamel to be brushed away if you brush too soon after consumption.

Using a whitening toothpaste at least twice a day will help restore the natural colour of your teeth. You can also paste your teeth with a mixture of peroxide and baking soda once a day. Leave the solution on for about 15 minutes if you can, being careful not to ingest any. Peroxide is a natural bleaching agent which will gently scrub away dull, discoloured layers on your teeth.

It’s not always easy to brush your teeth after every meal, and certainly not after every beverage. However, when you can’t brush, you can always chew!

Chewing a piece of gum will help dislodge any food particles in your teeth. It also helps activate the mouths natural saliva, which will help rinse the teeth. While some brands of chewing gum offer whitening enhancement, when you’re in a bind, any type of gum will do.

Every smoker knows that cigarettes are bad for your teeth. If you smoke, you’ll find it more difficult to keep your teeth looking bright. If you can’t quit smoking, at least choose a well filtered cigarette to keep the nicotine stains to a minimum.

Visiting your dentist at least twice a year for a cleaning and scaling will help keep your teeth looking their best. Your dentist has special tools that will remove unwanted plaque and tarter without damaging your teeth or mouth. This is one of the best ways you can keep your smile shining bright.
